On the 3rd of May 2004,70
representative companies of 17 Countries
gathered for the opening of The 1st
International Building and Construction
Expo (Libya Build 2004), held in the
conferences Center at Tripoli
International Fairgrounds.
Joining the assembly were ambassadors
and commercial attachés from a number of
Embassies in Libya, the head of the Arab
Engineering Committee and officials from
the Libyan government.
The Exhibition was officially
inaugurated by Mr. Salah Abdel Salam the
Executive Manager of The Gaddafi
International Foundation for Charity
Associations, who, along with the
guests, was shown around 1300 square
meters of exhibition ground, filled with
40 International and 30 Local companies
from private and public sectors.
The event hosted International companies
such as Larsen & Toubro, India’s largest
construction company, Ulma from Spain,
Doka from Austria and Anderson Colombia
from the United States of America, who
was the first American Company to attend
any formal event in Libya for more than
25 years.

During the last 33 years Libya has held
an International Exhibition every April,
with participants from Embassies in
Libya. However, this is the first time
in the history of Libyan Exhibitions
that companies specializing in Building
& Construction sectors from 4 Continents
have joined under one roof.
During the period of the expo we had
2500 visitors (approx) most being
professionals and influential
individuals from this field. We also had
visits from The Polish Chamber of
Commerce, Sfax Chamber of Commerce, and
a group of business men from Morocco,
Malta, Germany and the UK, specially
flying in to attend as well as a large
number of business men from different
cities in Libya. |
